Brgy. Malabia comes back!

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – A 20 year-old BS Accountancy student from Brgy. Malabia broke its 13-year hibernation in the Mutya ng Lungsod ng Balanga pageant as she was crowned Grand Winner at Razz Bar and Grill yesterday, April 25.

Candidate No. 5 Gene Rose Brigeth E. Flores who stands 5’5” is the first candidate from the said barangay to join Mutya since 2005. She hit the stage with grace and poise despite heavy rains at the Plaza Mayor which was the venue of the pageant until the half of long gown competition, when the organizers decided to transfer to Razz Bar and Grill.

Flores was not a front-runner in the pageant having won only one special award during the pre-pageant night, but because of her experience in joining pageants, her beauty, wit, and stage presence topped in the back to zero final judging.

In the question regarding fading family tradition, she had this to say: “I think that the tradition that has faded nowadays is due to technology and it is that our families spend time individually because we are distracted by technology… Many things here in our world have their own advantages and disadvantages and it is up to us on how we use it. So even if there’s so many technological advancements and industrial improvements nowadays, I think that we should use them properly for us not to forget our traditions.”

Meanwhile, early favorite Jade Nicole De Jesus who grabbed 12 awards during the pre-pageant night held at Vista MMall, finished 3rd Runner Up and won the Best in Casual Wear award.
