Empowering the youth of Samal

SAMAL, Bataan – “Ang kabataan ang bayan at mananatiling mahalagang sangkap ng ating pag-asa.” These were the words of Mayor Gene Malibiran – Dela Fuente as she addressed the participants to the Samal Youth Leadership Summit 2019 held from February 23 – 25 at the Samal National High School – Annex and John Wesley Methodist Center – Campsite in Sitio Adamson, Barangay Gugo. This Youth Development Summit is an annual event of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Samal.
This Summit was in partnership with the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines – Region 3 Alumni Community of Heroes (TOSP R3ACH) namely Mr. Gil Cruz Jr., Ms. Mirian Hipolito, Mr. Carl Espiritu, Mr. Dan Capule, and Ms. Jasmin Tan.
Over 100 youth leaders from Sangguniang Kabataan ng Samal, Out-of-School Youth, Samal Dance Community, Peer Facilitators, Supreme Student Government from SNHS Main and Annex attended the said summit.”
The summit focused on the following objectives: To develop leadership skills, character formation, and goal setting; to facilitate building relationship activities that will foster a collaborative spirit among participants; and, to guide the participants in becoming socially responsible youth of Samal. These thrusts remain in Samal’s advocacy in solidifying youth’s responsibility and accountability in nation-building.
