BALANGA CITY, Bataan – In view of the five days in a row no classes this week due to heavy rains brought by the southwest monsoon or “habagat” and the observance of two national holidays, Department of Education (DepEd) Bataan Schools Division Superintendent Jessie D. Ferrer said during an exclusive interview that students may experience series of make-up classes.
In compliance to DepEd order that implements 207 school days this academic year, schools shall conduct Saturday classes to fulfill the 187 non-negotiable days where students are expected to be inside the classroom.
According to Ferrer, the three flexibility days for this grading period intended for local celebrations and suspension of classes have already been consumed.
“At least three days per grading period ang flexibility natin. Sa ngayon tatlo na ‘yung araw na wala tayong pasok, so nagamit na lahat. Kung magkakaroon pa ng suspension of classes, it will affect the 187 non-negotiable days so magkakaroon kami ng Saturday classes,” he said.
Further, he anticipated more make-up classes this rainy season.
“June pa lang, marami pang suspension of classes because of rains so palagay ko marami kaming make-up classes na gagawin,” he added.
