Fire Prevention Month 2019 kicks off in Bataan!

CITY of BALANGA, Bataan – “Every Filipino has a role to play in having a fire safety community”, this was the challenge posed by Superintendent Santos C. Gawogna, Provincial Fire Marshall, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) – Bataan during the kick-off ceremony of the Annual Fire Prevention Month celebration for 2019 with the theme: “Ligtas na Pilipinas ating kamtin, bawat pamilya ay sanayin, kaalaman sa sunog ay palawakin”, held last Friday, March 1 at the Bataan People’s Center, Capitol Compound.
The ceremony started with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist (Mass) led by the BFP Chaplain Senior Inspector Jecker Luego followed by a Unity Walk around the City proper participated in by the BFP personnel from the different provinces of Region 3, PNP personnel, Metro Bataan Development Authority (MBDA) personnel, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), and students from various schools in Bataan.
A Simulation Exercise took place where the BFP Special Rescue Unit and MBDA Medic personnel showcased their readiness in case of a disaster, natural or man-made calamities, vehicular accidents, hazardous materials operation and emergency medical response.
In his speech, Governor Abet Garcia said: “It has been a big honor to Bataan as the first time host of the Annual Kick-off Ceremony of the Fire Prevention Month.” The governor also said that the simulation exercise of the BFP SRU and MBDA proved that they are ready in responding to any kind of emergency situation.
A Fire Turret Exhibition was performed where six fire trucks simultaneously burst water of different colors to signal the start the Fire Prevention Month.
