Fishers receive 14 fishing boats worth P 1million

MARIVELES, Bataan – Mayor Ace Jello C. Concepcon has allocated P1 million for the acquisition of 14 fishing motorboats for the livelihood program of the coastal villages of the town.

The motorized and fiberglass manufactured fishing boats are intended to provide economic impact on the fisher folks who are solely dependent on the rich-fishing grounds of one of the  Province’s two leading industrial zones, Concepcion said.

Despite the rapid industrialization of Mariveles town, Concepcion explained the government should provide traditional fishers with the basic equipment to expand and improve their means of livelihood.

While the local government is focusing on the skills development for the expected arrival of locators in the manufacturing business aspect, Concepcion emphasizes the important role of the agricultural and fishery sectors in the socio-economic progress of the town.
