FTEZ launches info drive for Mt. Samat developments

The Mt. Samat Flagship Tourism Enterprise Zone (FTEZ) launched a series of information campaigns in campuses and local government units across the province of Bataan in an effort to raise public awareness about the development in the Shrine of Valor and further promote the tourism operations at the heritage site.

The first of the series of campaigns was recently held at the Bataan Peninsula State University and was participated by tourism students. The program includes a brief orientation about the operations of the Mt. Samat FTEZ, the 5-Year Infrastructure Development Plan in the Shrine of Valor and the improvement of the existing facilities.
The 1Bataan Integrated Transport System also presented the ferry operations during the said event.
“The information tour aims to explain to the public the operations of the flagship tourism zone in the province through the efforts of its government Stakeholders. We hope that this program will also encourage Bataeños to promote Mt. Samat and the other historical and heritage sites in the province,” said Mt. Samat FTEZ Administrator Francis Theodore B. Initorio.

The information tour is also scheduled in local government offices in various towns of Bataan, from Mariveles to Dinalupihan, and in the campuses of Asia Pacific College of Advance Studies, Polytechnic University of the Philippines – Mariveles, Letran Bataan, and other colleges and universities.
The Mt. Samat Shrine of Valor has been declared as a Flagship Tourism Enterprise Zone through the inter-agency partnership of the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority, Philippine Veterans Affairs Office, Provincial Government of Bataan and Municipality of Pilar. The declaration is part of the initiative to make the heritage site the premier historical tourism hub in the country.

Since the approval of the FTEZ Comprehensive Tourism Master Plan for Mt. Samat, a series of developments were implemented. In 9 April 2019, the View Deck – Exhibit Area of the Shrine Site was opened to the public. The Visitors Complex will also soon rise in the Shrine Site, which will include the Tourist Assistance Center, Visitors Center and MultiPurpose and Administration Building. The Mt. Samat FTEZ Office under TIEZA also rolled out its 5-Year Infrastructure Program along with national annual events to increase the
tourism volume and expenditure in the Shrine Site and province of Bataan.
