The newly appointed officers of the 16th Regional Development Council (RDC) led by Gov. Abet Garcia as chairperson for the term 2019-2022, took their oath last Thursday, November 28 at the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Regional Office 3 in San Fernando City, Pampanga. Said officers were appointed by no less than President Rodrigo Duterte.
Also held that day was the second full council meeting of the 16th RDC 3, Among the topics discussed are the reorganization of the RDC III sectoral committees, Central Luzon Regional Development Plan (CL-RDP) 2017-2022 midterm update, sector, and adhoc committee resolutions. Earlier, awards were handed to the 2019 Central Luzon Outstanding Volunteers.
Composed of provincial governors, city mayors, mayors of municipalities designated as provincial capitals, presidents of the provincial leagues of mayors in the region, mayors of municipalities designated as regional center, the RDC is the highest policy-making body in the region and serves as the counterpart of the NEDA Board at the subnational level. It is also the primary institution that coordinates and sets the direction of all economic and social development efforts in the region and serves as a forum where local efforts can be related and integrated with national development initiatives.
The NEDA Regional Offices serve as the technical and administrative secretariat of the RDC.
