CITY of BALANGA, Bataan – Since Bataan is the only province in the country that the Latter-Day Saint (LDS) Charities has a partnership in the Mobility and Assistive Devices, the church based-organization have seen the province’s best practices and effective delivery of services. For this reason, other Church Missionaries particularly in the provinces of Iloilo and Cebu have scheduled a benchmarking visit at our province, yesterday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, this City.
Elder Kenneth Lee, LDSC Welfare Project Manager, together with Ms. Christina May Ferma, Provincial Focal Person for Persons with Disability (PWD), led the awarding of Mobility and Assistive Devices to 20 beneficiaries.
Moreover, a brief orientation on the care and maintenance of wheelchairs was done by Mr. Rogelio Flores, Wheelchair Assessor, KASAMAKA CBR Foundation.
Meanwhile, Ms. Ma. Lourdes Esmabe, a grandparent of a PWD from Pilar, Mr. Roger Cabuay, a self-employed PWD from Bagac, and Ms. Cleofe Lazala, a PWD Leader in Bagac, all gave their word of thanks to the Latter-Day Saint Charities.
The members of Samahan ng mga Taong May Kapansanan sa Bataan (SATAMAKABA) Community-Based Rehabilitation, Inc. has been the beneficiaries of 440 Mobility and Assistive Devices such as wheelchairs, crutches, walkers, quad canes and blind/white canes which came from LDS Charities, a humanitarian arm of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints that sponsors relief and development projects in 167 countries including the Philippines. This is in line with the 2-year old partnership of our Provincial Government through the Provincial Council on Disability Affairs.
Participants in the said event include 20 Members of the Provincial Council on Disability Affairs (SATAMAKABA CBR, Inc., PSWDO, Rotary Club of City of Balanga, DTI, DILG, PNP, DPWH 1st & 2nd DEO, OPA, TESDA, Phil. Red Cross, PG ENRO, DOST, KASAMAKA CBR Foundation, PIA, MISO/1Bataan Media Center, DOH, DepEd, PHO & PAO), Elder Kenneth Lee, 15 LDS Missionaries and the PWDs.
