PILAR, Bataan – Children in this town are really lucky because the local leadership here is now intensifying its campaign for the protection of children down to the barangay level.
With various personnel from local government offices and the local policemen in tow, Mayor Alice Pizarro has been roaming around various barangays to personally see how could they further help the children.
“As we roam around the different barangays, we also talk to the mothers, informing them about the rights of their children, how to properly care for them and at the same time we conduct feeding program,” pointed out Mayor Pizarro.
Sr. Inspector Dennis Orbista, Chief of Police here, also led his men in assisting Mayor Pizarro, bringing the policemen closer to the people. Aside from providing security to the group, Captain Orbista said that they could also gather information direct from barangay officials themselves about the peace and order in their locality.
“Maliban sa magkakaroon ng ibayong proteksyon ang mga bata ay nakakausap pa namin ang kanilang mga magulang para sa lalong ikabubuti ng kanilang mga anak,” added Pizarro.
Newsmen learned that even at the height of typhoons, the lady mayor and her husband former Mayor Charlie Pizarro, now General Manager of the Metro Bataan Development Authority, go around different barangays that were severely affected, personally distributing packed ready to eat food and relief assistance to the people.
