Mt. Samat Flagship Tourism Enterprise Zone (FTEZ), in partnership with Eastmart Reality Innovators and Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) equipped Mt. Samat Underground Museum with Augmented Reality (AR) feature as they launched the first phase of integrating the computer-generated content and animation in the exhibit yesterday, October 30.
Gracing the event was Brigadier General Restituto Aguilar who said that the progress of the museum is an advantage to younger generation to interact with history. Congressman Joet Garcia, who authored House Bill 2117 mandating the inclusion of visits to historical and cultural heritage sites as part of the off-campus activities of both public and private schools, also expressed that such integration enables the imagination of visitors to move outside the museum.
With the use of smartphones and tablets which visitors can rent, they can roam around the museum where AR codes and images will show materials relating to the displays in the exhibit. Souvenirs are also available which translate graphic images to animations with information through the use of rented gadgets.
