CITY of BALANGA, Bataan -The Bataan Child Empowerment Council (BCEC) is currently celebrating its annual Family Day at the Bataan People’s Center, this City. As a social development organization, BCEC gives special focus on children ages 0-18 to ensure that they enjoy the fullness of life and their rights as children.
For several years now, the BCEC has become an effective and trusted partner of the Provincial Government of Bataan through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office headed by Mrs. Marilyn C. Tigas, in providing developmental programs to its target clientele. Part of the Council’s advocacy is corollary to the Province’s vision that is to attain the highest human development index in the country by the year 2020.
BCEC’s thrust is on the families of day care children from indigenous communities. To date, BCEC is providing continuous supplemental feeding, vitamins, educational assistance as well as medical and dental services to nine (9) day care centers in 8 of the 11 municipalities of the province- Dinalupihan (Sapang Balas and Maligaya), Samal (Parang), Abucay (Bangkal), Pilar (Tabon), Orion (Bayan-bayanan), Bagac (Pag-asa), Morong (Ibayo) and Mariveles (Biyaan). Said provision of services is regularly monitored during the Council’s monthly visits to the abovementioned day care centers, whose beneficiaries mostly belong to the indigenous communities.
Today’s celebration is graced by no less than its chairperson, Mrs. Vicky S. Garcia who delivered an inspirational message. Dr. Rosario Acuna, one of the members of the Board of Directors delivered the welcome remarks.
One of the highlights of this event is the showcase of talents of the children through their ethnic and modern dance numbers. In between said numbers are raffle draws that added excitement among the attendees.
