ORANI, BATAAN–Key government officials, colleagues in politics, relatives and friends paid their final respects to the late Bataan First District Congresman Antonino “Tony” Roman at his wake in Quezon City early last week.
President Benigno S. Aquino III, Vice President Jejomar Binay, Senate President Frank Drilon, former First Lady now Congresswoman Imelda Marcos, DILG Secretary Mar Roxas and Justice Secretary Leila de Lima were among the early visitors at the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Funeral House.
Bataan Governor Albert Garcia, Second District of Bataan Representative Enrique ‘Tet’ Garcia, Jr., Dinalupihan Mayor Gila Garcia and mother Vicky Garcia also arrived later at the said funeral home.
Last Saturday, fellow politicians, relatives and supporters, some wearing t-shirts with the lawmaker’s face printed on it, flocked and formed long lines to bid farewell at his funeral in his hometown in Barangay Bayan in Orani, Bataan.
Roman passed away last Wednesday at 6:20 a.m. at the Makati Medical Center due to emphysema and heart complications. He was 74.
“Cong. TR’s” interment is scheduled on Friday, January 17, 2014 which also coincides with the 49th year wedding anniversary with his wife Herminia.
