“Kung kaya po natin sa Bataan at Aurora walang dahilan para hindi magawa ng ibang probinsya at hindi imposibleng magawa sa buong Central Luzon,” said Regional Director, Police Brigadier General Rhodel Sermonia during the official declaration of the provinces of Bataan and Aurora as the first two Drug Clear Provinces in Luzon attended by Governor Albert Garcia, Province of Aurora, Acting Governor Atty. Christian Noveras, officials of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Philippine National Police (PNP), reformists from the different provinces in Central Luzon and other stake holders held at the Bataan People’s Center last February 1.
It will be remembered that in 2016, the Province of Bataan was first declared as a Drug Clear Province through the Bahay Pagbabago Reformation Centers established in the 11 municipalities and lone city in the province. Sermonia also emphasized that the reason behind its access is because they did not ‘own the problem’ in fighting against illegal drugs. It’s a collaborative work of the different leaders of the LGUs, barangay officials, and other public and private agencies who accepted the challenge in the fight against illegal drugs in the country.
Governor Garcia expressed his gratitude to all the government agencies, private organizations, barangay leaders and private individuals for helping the Province of Bataan to become a Drug Clear Province. He also said that Bataan should not be complacent even after the declaration for it is a continuous campaign where everyone must be vigilant.
