In his earnest desire to fast track the construction of the housing units intended for the fire victims in Sitio Depensa, Brgy. Capunitan, Orion, Gov. Albert S. Garcia, met with Mr. Julius Enciso of HLURB, Arch. Henry Mayuga and Mr. Gabriel Bobier of Presidential Management Staff last November 26 for the commencement of the land development in the identified relocation site in Brgy. Daan Pare, which is about 7 minutes away from Capunitan and about 200-300 meters from the shoreline.
According to Mr. Chris Leonzon, of the Office of the Governor, Gov. Abet is determined to give the Capunitan fire victims who are currently housed at the Bataan Fisheries School in Orion, a decent abode which is near their source of livelihood which is mainly fishing.
Mr. Leonzon added that, said housing project that will be called 1Bataan Village, will be composed of 3 phases and complete with all the amenities, such as a multipurpose building, a fish drying area, and a parking space for their bancas.
Each phase is composed of 3-storey buildings that can accommodate at least 2,872 dwelling units. For the construction, wind direction in the area was taken into consideration to ensure proper ventilation.
A Sangguniang Panlalawigan resolution is already being processed in time for the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement among the PGB, Orion LGU, NHA and HLURB.
Part of HLURB’s commitment are the sewage treatment plant, road network and community facilities while NHA is in charge of the residential buildings. The site was purchased by the provincial government and the local government unit of Orion.
Owing to the dramatic economic growth in the province, Gov. Abet foresees an increased need for housing hence the good governor wants the 1Bataan village to be replicated in Mariveles, Bagac, Balanga City, Hermosa, Limay, Dinalupihan, said to be highly populated and urbanized towns in the province.
