Siblings win Singapore Math as PH beats China, Singapore in medal tally

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Siblings from Balanga City again demonstrated their math prowess when they won awards in their respective grade levels in the recently concluded 13th International Mathematics Contest (IMC) held in Singapore last August 4-7, 2017.

Ronniel Vincent P. Roberto of The Peninsula School, Limay won a Bronze Prize Award; while his older sister, Ronnie Vience P. Roberto of the Philippine Science High School – Main Campus in Quezon City, won a Merit Prize Award.

The Philippine delegation ranked first with a total of 245 medals and 111 merit awards. China placed second, followed by Thailand and Singapore. This year’s contest involved calculation skills, non-routine questions, and proving type of questions.

Last year, these siblings won silver medals in another math contest held in Thailand.
Just recently, Ronniel Vincent also received a Bronze Medal Award for his meritorious performance in the Singapore and Asian Schools Math Olympiad (SASMO) held last April 8, 2017. The awarding ceremony was held last June 10, 2017 at the UP National Institute of Science and Mathematics Education Development, Diliman, Quezon City.
