THE youths must be open-minded; must engage in critical thinking more particularly on pressing issues; must decide on what is right and just.
Those were the qualities the youth must possess, according to Bataan First District Congresswoman Geraldine B. Roman during last Thursday’s “1st District Scholars Summit” with a theme “Student Involvement in National Affairs” held at Orani covered court.
Congw. Roman invited Makabayan Partylist Rep. Sarah Elago to serve as an inspiration for the more than 600 scholars from the province’s first district.
To elicit important points from the activist member of the House of Representatives, Roman threw leading questions to Elago which she willingly answered to inspire the scholars. She related how she became a responsible activist to become Makabayan Partylist representative in the 17th Congress.
Elago urged the youths to become good children to their parents. “Bilang boses ng Kabataan sa Kongreso sisikapin kong magamit ang mandato para sa ikabubuti ng ating mga kabataan,” said Elago. (As a voice of the youth sector I will make use of the mandate to improve the lot of the youth sector.)
