BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Last December 22, 2017, we invited the different stakeholders of National Food Authority (NFA) for a joint “Ugnayan” and simple Christmas get-together at the NFA-Bataan Provincial Office. This joint meeting is one thing we have not done for so long.
Ugnayan is an activity conducted by NFA personnel to encourage farmers and farmer groups to sell their palay to the agency. It is also a forum to explain the roles played by each stakeholder as part of the grains industry.
During her welcome message, Bataan Provincial Manager Adelaida C. Nuestro expressed her gratitude towards the stakeholders for their continued support to NFA programs, especially to the farmers and farmer groups who loyally sell their produce to NFA despite the gap between buying price offered by commercial rice traders and that of the agency.
To show NFA’s gratitude, individual farmers and farmer groups were presented with Certificate of Appreciation for their continued patronage of NFA’s palay procurement program.
Representatives from each group also thanked the NFA for their efforts in supporting the grains industry. Farmers also promised to keep selling part of their harvest to NFA as a way of giving back to the community. This is because Local Government Units (LGUs) and relief-giving organizations depend on NFA for their rice needs in times of disasters and calamities.
