Japanese flood experts conduct study to solve Balanga flooding woes

BALANGA CITY, A team of Japanese flood expert has been conducting a comprehensive study on how to rid this city of  flooding problem, a top official of the Department of Public Works and Highways revealed yesterday.

DPWH district engineer Reynaldo Venturina, 2nd district,  said that the Japanese flood expert team has been in the city recently to come up with a feasibility study on how to address the flash floods that hit this city recently.

“The Japanese consultants had already initiated an initial study, then will come up with a scheme on how to solve the flooding once and for all,” said Engr. Venturina.

Mayor Joet S Garcia and city officials believe that the flash flood that hit the city proper and low lying areas here was brought about by a heavy rains and flood waters coming from the mountains in Upper portions of Balanga.

CIDG Bataan has new chief; Vows to work hand in hand with Gov Abet

  CAMP TOLENTINO, Bataan- Chief Inspector Ruben Tampis, a native of Mariveles town, has been designated as provincial officer (PO) of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Bataan.

               The designation of Major Tampis, a law graduate and veteran CIDG investigator, came after the PNP hierarchy suddenly relieved Chief Inspector Melchor Cantil as PO of Bataan following a series of reported complaints from their operations, including one alleged victim-Freddie Tungia,  with whom the CIDG  confiscated his two guns with legitimate licenses.

               “I am a legitimate license gun holder being a legitimate businessman and yet the CIDG still confiscated my guns and had my personal property pawned just to come across with the demand for “settlement” by CIDG agents;  so I personally reported this matter to PNP chief Alan Purisima who, in turn ordered the immediate relief of Major Cantil and his one agent identified as Cruz, pending their investigation” said the teary-eyed Tungia.

Bataan gov says Unity means development, progress

 BALANGA CITY, Bataan- Governor Abet S Garcia said yesterday that he will further intensify the started unification of political leaders in the province , believing this will mean more economic progress and development.

     In his meeting with barangay captains of Mariveles town held at Lou-is restaurant here yesterday, Gov Garcia said that a united community will contribute to a more stable economy and progress in this industrial town in Southern Bataan.

     “Lalo nating pag iibayuhin ang pagkakaisa para lalong mabilis ang pag angat ng ating lalawigan; mas maganda kung walang away away sa politika, nagkakasundo ang mga mayor at governor, congressman,” Garcia told the barangay leaders.

Bataenos to get faster dissemination of information

BALANGA CITY, Bataan- The provincial government of Bataan is now readying a scheme to enable Bataenos  get breaking fresh news and development, available job vacancies from companies, and other necessary information.

“In just one click from their homes whether they are from remote barangays or not, job applicants in Bataan can then be able to know if there are available jobs from Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB), SBMA and in any operating firms in the province; Bataenos can then immediately apply for it without the hazard of going anywhere just to search for job vacancies,” Governor Abet S. Garcia told this correspondent.

Bataan redies relief assistance to affected by red tide

BALANGA CITY, Bataan- As the coastal areas of Bataan was hit by red tide phenomemun, the provincial government is readying relief assistance to fishermen severely affected by it.

This was revealed yesterday by  Imelda Nieto, provincial agriculturist, who said that since there are around 611 fishermen, shellfish gatherers and operators in the province displaced from their jobs, she said  that Gov Abet Garcia had instructed them to come up with a relief assistance scheme to  have these affected Bataenos be given relief assistance and livelihood projects.

BPSU choir goes Global

BPSU Main Campus, Bataan- After successfully winning in a number of choir competitions, the Bataan Peninsula State University Chamber Chorale (BPSU CC) quire is set to compete with other schools in Wir Feiern 5 Novelty song fest choir competition in Amoranto Theater in Quezon City come November 10.

The BPSU choir, composed of 35 well-trained young college students, had been recognized not only in the province but also in the region due to their unique and mesmerizing style in singing, making them quire like no other.

Now the envy of other schools, the group is now busy flexing their skills in preparation for their imminent show in South Korea and in Hong Kong come December.
