CAMP CIRILO TOLETINO, Bataan – The two highest officials of this historic peninsula graced the 27th PNP founding anniversary celebration held here this morning coinciding with this year’s celebration of National Women’s month.

In his message, Governor Albert S. Garcia underscored a number of interesting points some of which are the following:

1.    He welcomed the family of the late PFC Cirilo Tolentino after whom the camp was named. PFC Tolentino was a guerilla during the Japanese occupation assigned in Bataan, where he met his wife, belonging to the Nuguid family in Hermosa. His selfless and heroic deed during a rescue operation when barangay Nagwaling, Pilar was hit by a flashflood saved at least 20 families. Unfortunately, such selfless dedication to duty cost him his precious life.

2.    Regarding the National Women’s Month celebration, Gov. Garcia emphasized that in Bataan, gender equality is highly recognized, one indicator is the growing number of women in uniform in the PNP. He also mentioned that the Vice Governor is a woman. Garcia said that having more women in the PNP is a big help in the delivery of better services for it is common knowledge that women possess a different degree of dedication and commitment.

3.    On giving credit where credit is due, Garcia accentuated the sterling accomplishment of the PNP-Bataan based on statistics, that crime rate in the province dropped by 20% in the year 2017, compared to the same period in 2016. For this year 2018, on top of the 20% decrease in 2017, another 20% is again targeted and this will continue to go lower and lower.

4.    Once again, Gov. Abet emphasized the importance of measurement in relation to performance. He said that it is only in measuring one’s accomplishments that you can improve your performance.

5.    Lastly, he once again congratulated the PNP for their valuable contribution to the progress of the province, stressing the fact that their heightened visibility, better intelligence work to name a few all contributed to the peace and order in the communities which in turn added assurance among investors and the citizens alike that Bataan is the best place to invest, work, live, study and raise a family.

Vice Governor Cris Garcia, in her inspirational message likewise highlighted the contribution of the PNP to the remarkable progress of the province which was started by the late former Congressman and Vice Governor Enrique “Tet” Garcia. She emphasized that nowadays, in Bataan development is everywhere, hence the Human Development Index comprising health, education and income keeps getting higher.
