The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Bataan is urging wastes recycling and composting.
Cenro Dinalupihan Environmental Monitoring Officer Aileen Pamintuan said recycling and composting of biodegradable wastes minimize the wastes (residual) reaching sanitary landfills. She added fertilizer and soil conditioner are good for growing plants.
She said RA 9003 (Ecological Waste Management Act) also promotes wastes segregation.
Pamintuan also warned wastes incineration is not allowed as smoke destroys ozone layer resulting to global warming. She also said irresponsible dumping of wastes litter seas and clogs rivers, canals, and other tributaries.
Cenro Dinalupihan Information Officer Janine Nisay and Penro Bataan Environmental Monitoring Officer Margarita Pangan, and Pamintuan were guests recently in radio program Bataan at Kalikasan at 91.1 Sikat FM.
