The Sangguniang Bayan of Dinalupihan is now planning to impose an ordinance amid mounting complaints of overcharging tricycle drivers.

Councilor Gary David, who chairs the SB committee on transportation, said there is now a need to craft a new municipal ordinance on the correct amount of tricycle fares to resolve confusion among passengers and tricycle drivers.

Noli Soriano, a committee member, said “puwede natin baguhin o i-amend ang dating ordenansa tungkol sa tricycle fare, but it would be a fair increase.”

Councilor Pam Sandoval suggested that tricycle drivers should have their IDs displayed in their units for the security of passengers.

“Just like the trike drivers in Balanga City where their IDs are visible to passengers,” she said.

It was reported that many tricycle drivers still charge the passengers the amount they used to charge during the pandemic period– when a lone passenger was asked to pay equivalent to three passengers.
