Governor Joet Garcia attended the commencement program for 50 graduates from the Greenhaven Farm, a Farmers Field School (FFS) in Pilar, trained in the Production of High-Quality Inbred Rice, Seed Certification, and Farm Mechanization.
“Ako po ay natutuwa na tayo ay may ganitong programa dahil ibig sabihin po nito nadadagdagan pa ang ating mga magsasaka,” Gov. Joet Garcia said as he expresses how important said trainings are especially with the rising prices of produce in the country.
Said program is under the Rice Extension Services Program-Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RESP-RCEF), which aims to train farmers in a field-based setting for a hands-on experience to impart knowledge on new ways of farming for better yield and profit.
This training was made possible through the partnership of Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and Greenhaven Farm.
“Kasama po sa mga programa ng TESDA ay ang layunin na dapat ay madami ang matutunan ng bawat isa— para maging self sustaining,” Bataan TESDA Provincial Director Ava Heidi Dela Torre said in her message.
TESDA graduates, later on, gave their testimonials on how the program has helped them and how it changed the traditional way of farming that was passed on to them.
Present at the event were Pilar Mayor Charlie Pizarro, ATI-Central Luzon Center Director Engr. Joey Belarmino, OIC Municipal Agriculturist Maricel Aquino, and a representative from the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist.
