Governor Abet graced BPSU Olympics 2017

BALANGA, Bataan – The Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) formally opened yesterday the 2017 Olympics with the theme “Borderless Excellence and Development through Sports” with Hon. Governor Albert Garcia as guest speaker.

With the main campus as the host of this year’s sports activity, the other five campuses with their respective directors, Ma. Fe Roman of Dinalupihan, Magdalena Abella of Balanga, Yolanda Simbul of Orani, Jonathan E. Lacayanga of Abucay and Rolliver M. Baciles of Bagac, actively participated in the annual intramurals with their players exuding sports calisthenics during the opening program and will later compete in the week long sports activities in basketball, volleyball and others.

In his message, Gov. Abet Garcia said that he is happy to witness the annual BPSU olympics for the students to balance their academic and athletic activities as well as create a good relationship with students from other campuses.

Moreover, the Governor informed the students of the efforts of the provincial government has been exerting to achieve inclusive growth and increase investments for the province, that as the students graduate, they will find a good job here, without going to Manila and abroad and be away from their families.

Amid the roaring crowd, BPSU President Gregorio Rodis, welcomed the students using the popular youth lingo “petmalu” (malupit) and “lodi” (idol) bringing more excitement among the students, to emphasize that the objective of the sports activities is for the students to learn the art of discipline and being sports minded. He added, that he hopes that by next year, they will be able to build their own sports complex in Orani, to stage their annual olympics there.

The BPSU Olympics is an annual event of the university’s student body which aims to foster camaraderie, unity, friendship among its different student campuses, faculties and employees.
