Bataan Board Member Romano “Popoy” Del Rosario recently filed a resolution at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan urging the lone city and municipalities of Bataan to enact an ordinance prescribing the installation of close-circuit television (CCTV) systems as a requirement in the issuance of business permits.

Del Rosario who chairs the provincial board’s committees on peace and order and public safety and housing and land utilization, said cctv cameras will help deter the commission of crimes in a particular area. “Malaking bagay po pag may cctv ang isang business establishment,” he said.

Del Rosario said cctv cameras should be installed on establishments catering to a large number of customers, or where transactions and operations have high risks of being targeted by criminals. Establishments that are prone to accidents, natural disasters; banks, pawnshops, money remittance services, shopping malls, hospitals, movie houses, internet cafes, among others, should also be required to have cctv systems.
