LIMAY, Bataan – About 10,000 households from 12 barangays in this town received on Sunday food packs in preparation for the onslaught of typhoon Ruby.
The effect of the super typhoon is expected to be felt Monday or Tuesday in Bataan but town officials decided to distribute in advance the food packs consisting of rice, canned goods, among some other items.
“Relief ito for calamity para nakahanda na kahit wala pa si Ruby,” said Charlie Samson who was supervising the repacking and distribution. Workers were busy repacking the food items while a number of dump trucks brought the food packs to different barangays. Samson said they have so far distributed 9,543 food packs but have reserved some more for those who were not listed.
Limay Mayor Lilvir Roque has said that they will begin pre-emptive evacuation on Monday or earlier. He said that the Limay Central School will serve as the center for evacuation in the poblacion. As of press time, Bataan is placed under typhoon Signal No. 2.
