The Malasakit Center inside the Mariveles Mental Wellness and General Hospital compound in Bataan is now open.
In an interview with 1Bataan News, Mariveles Mayor Ace Jello Concepcion said that this is a one-stop shop center to bring closer, facilitate and speed up the process of medical and financial assistance for the people of Mariveles as well as its neighboring towns with the help of national agencies such as the Department of Health, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, Department of Social Welfare and Development, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.
Meanwhile in her message, Bataan 3rd District Representative Maria Angela “Gila” Garcia emphasized the importance of government health programs to help those in need and prevent serious illnesses.
The 1st-termer lawmaker said that with the help of the Malasakit Centers and various government agencies, the medical needs of the countrymen will be better met and not only limited to those currently experiencing illness.
She added, it also aims to prevent serious illness and provide individuals who need immediate medical attention.
This is the 112th Malasakit Center nationwide and the second in the province after the Bataan General Hospital and Medical Center. It started as a project of the Office of the Special Assistant to the President and was enacted into law by virtue of Republic Act 11463.
