Seventy percent of Orion’s more than 60,000 residents are now fully vaccinated, according to Mayor Antonio L. Raymundo, Jr.
Raymundo said at least 85 percent of the town’s population received their first dose of Sinovac and Sinopharm anti-COVID-19 vaccines.
He said the municipal government is launching mobile vaccination drive to reach out far-flung barangays (villages). “Siguro naman wala na silang (barangay residents) dahilan para sabihing malayo at walang pamasahe dahil tayo na mismo ang pupunta sa kanila,” said the mayor. (Perhaps they would no longer complain of travelling far and bewail of transportaion problem because we go to their place.)
Raymundo was surprised to learn that the number of residents who received immunization exceeded the total number of population. It turned out that thousands of workers had themselves vaccinated in Orion even if they were non-residents but working in several firms there.
