PILAR, Bataan – A top official of the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) revealed yesterday that they are rushing the National Greening Program (NGP) in Bataan.

PENRO chief Raul Mamac said they had tapped the help of various nongovernment organizations to complete the said project, saying this should be 100 percent finished this season.

The NGP is a priority project of President Benigno Aquino in his bid to prevent the degradation of climate in the country.

The NGP is being pushed by DENR Secretary Ramon Paje and Central Luzon Director Francisco Milla,Jr, who said that more than 22,000 hectares of land will be planted this season alone.

Last week, about 100 students and instructors from Colegio de San Juan de Letran-Bataan attended the Climate Change Forum organized by PIA, through Jose Mari Garcia; Pilipinas Natin; DENR; Letran and Balangay Bayani and voiced their support for environmental preservation and nation building.
