LIMAY, Bataan – The municipal mayor of this fast growing industrial town bared the other day the granting of P50,000 personal insurance coverage that will cover accidental death and disability; and livelihood packages for about 3,000 tricycle drivers as a fundamental component of his poverty alleviation scheme.
Mayor Lilver Roque has expressed his great concern for the welfare of the less-privileged sector specifically the tricycle drivers during his short dialogue in the town hall last Friday.
Roque said the legitimate tricycle drivers operating in the town will get free personal insurance benefits, financial assistance to livelihood projects and technical skills training program .
He stressed the tricycle drivers must lawfully register their units of public conveyances and pay the business permits to be qualified for the economic amelioration thrust of the local government.
The on-going construction of various industrial firms in Limay provides abundant job opportunities for the residents and more revenues for the tricycle operators and drivers, Roque said.
He added the cooperation of the tricycle operators and drivers is vital in the development of a transport system in the expanding community as he appealed to them to report to the police authorities the unauthorized operation of colorum vehicles that endanger the lives of the passengers if an accident occurs. Roque said the municipality will issue identification cards to authorized drivers to properly identify them from those without franchise
