A proposed measure seeking to prevent corruption in government aid distribution has moved forward in the legislative process, according to Bataan 1st District Representative Tony Roman III. The Kontra Kickback sa Ayuda Act (House Bill 606) has been elevated to the Technical Working Group, with a substitute bill now being prepared for committee and plenary approval.
Rep. Roman said the measure is a crucial step in addressing alleged abuses in the distribution of financial assistance, stressing that government aid should reach beneficiaries in full. He emphasized that no deductions, sharing schemes, or any form of corruption should be tolerated in the implementation of public assistance programs.
The proposed bill aims to strengthen accountability mechanisms and ensure transparency in the handling of public funds allocated for aid. It also seeks to impose stricter penalties against individuals who exploit or siphon portions of financial assistance intended for vulnerable sectors.
Once approved, the measure is expected to safeguard every peso allocated by the government, ensuring that it directly benefits intended recipients, particularly marginalized communities. Lawmakers believe this will help restore public trust in social welfare programs.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts in the House of Representatives of the Philippines to promote clean governance and eliminate corrupt practices in public service. It also aligns with ongoing reforms aimed at improving the delivery of social protection programs nationwide.
Cong. Roman reiterated his commitment to pushing for honest and transparent governance, saying the fight for clean public service will continue. He added that measures like the Kontra Kickback sa Ayuda Act are essential in ensuring that government assistance remains free from exploitation.
