OWD builds Bataan’s first steel-bolted-glass-fused reservoir

ORANI, Bataan – Orani Water District (OWD) General Manager Benigno “Benny” Andres said they are set to improve their facilities this year to give better and more effective service to their members.

After the installation of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) last year to effectively monitor their operation, they are now building a steel-bolted-glass-fused reservoir in Barangay Mulawin with a capacity of 1 million liters.

SCADA is a computer system used for data gathering and real time data analysis. With this system, the general manager can monitor their operation like the level of water supply in any particular area.

“This technology (steel-bolted-glass-fused resevoir) is the first in Bataan among the water districts here. The construction is still ongoing and we are now just waiting for the flow meter,” Andres told 1Bataan.com.

The reservoir construction project costs P13 million using technology from the United Kingdom.

The project is part of OWD’s P101-million loan from KFW, a German financial institution and Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA).

Andres also cited the significance in using this mother technology in water storage along with conventional storage equipment such as metal or concrete tanks.

“We are ready for the next 25 to 50 years in terms of services and quality of water,” the general manager assures their almost 10,000 clients.
