Relief operations going on

CITY of BALANGA, Bataan – The onslaught of heavy rains brought about by the southwest monsoon or “hangin habagat”, placed a number of towns in this province under water for several days now.

However, the readiness of the local government units down to the barangay levels to respond to situations like this avoided loss of lives and damages to property.

To address the immediate needs of the people in barangays that are under water, the provincial government, thru the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), already released 210 cavans of rice, 7,000 tins of sardines, 7,000 tins of corned beef to be included in the food packs for the municipalities of Hermosa (good for 3,500 families) and Samal (good for 500 families).

Earlier, Hermosa Mayor Jopet Inton and Mayor Gila Garcia of Dinalupihan have already distributed food packs to the affected residents.

According to Ms. Marichu Garcia, PSWDO staff, to date there has been no reports of evacuations going on.
