MORONG, Bataan – A prestigious Metro Manila based realty firm is set to develop about 140 hectares of land in the coastal village of Mabayo, this town.
Bataan Provincial Board Member Rolando Z. Tigas, Chair of Infrastructure and Land Use Committee, said the proposed project is adjacent to the backdoor of the biggest freeport zone in the country, the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA).
Tigas, a well-known contractor in Bataan before he entered politics, has cited the terrific geographical advantages of Bataan as a peninsula facing the grandeur of West Philippine Sea and its accessibility to the other ecozones including the two former American naval and air bases in Zambales and Pampanga provinces with thousands of workers as potential housing clients.
Tigas stressed that the site of the housing project is appropriate and favorable location, being environmentally wholesome and fascinating; not to mention the government thrust in pursuing health tourism.
He explained the prospect of housing industry continues to be bright as key growth engines of economic prosperity namely from the remittances of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW), growing Business Process Outsourcing Industry, thousands of high-paying technical and professionals employed in the province’s ecozones are fueling the demand for comfortable residential houses.
Based on BM Tigas’ assessment, the housing need is more felt among the lower income levels of society which has motivated housing developers to innovate in the area of housing production in order to provide affordable housing units that meet the industry’s quality standards.
He said several housing subdivisions have increased rapidly in the two industrial towns of Limay and Mariveles to cope with the reported growing number of locators; considering both local and Asian investors have expanded their manufacturing operations in Bataan.
