DINALUPIHAN, Bataan – Eighteen farmers organizations from 18 different barangays (villages) of this first-class municipality personally received seed capital fund under the bottom up budgeting program (BUB) of the national government for sustainable livelihood programs.
Mayor Maria Angela S. Garcia, vice mayor Renato Matawaran, municipal council members and representatives from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Agriculture, Department of Agrarian Reform, provincial agriculturist office, provincial social
welfare and development office chief, Marilyn Tigas, led the formal distribution rites held at the Patio Michelle here.
Each group received 100 thousand pesos seed capital fund. Mabelle Esguerra, a representative from the office of Senator Cynthia Villar was also present for additional assistance for the LGU here.
“This is now called ‘assistance to disadvantaged municipalities” Gemma Gabuya, DSWD regional director said.
During the past administration, the program was employment assistance and sustainable livelihood project being channeled to local government units nationwide to alleviate poverty in the country.
The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), a sub-agency from the DA, lectured about the basics of how every Filipino can prevent or escape from the bondage of poverty. The ATI is the agency in charge of capacity building trainings for the farmers associations here.
“Ang Dinalupihan po ay isang agrikultural na bayan kaya’t dapat nating pagyamanin ang ating mga bukirin upang tayo po ay umunlad,” Garcia told farmers.
She added that the farmers should take advantage of this assistance from the government while the LGU here does its role and programs for the welfare of their constituents.
“Ang programang ito ay pinagsama-samang ideya mula sa ibat ibang sektor para matulungan ang lahat ng sektor ng ating pamayanan,” former municipal councilor Jules Moncupa said.
