Tech4Ed Center rises at AMPC

ABUCAY, Bataan – The Department of Science and Technology Central Luzon Region (DOST III) and the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) collaborated to establish a Technology for Economic Development (Tech4Ed) Center at Abucay Multipurpose Cooperative (AMPC) in Calaylayan, Abucay, Bataan recently.

DOST provided AMPC the necessary computer hardware to set up the Tech4Ed Center which include three (3) computer units and one year internet subscription.

Meanwhile, DICT installed the Tech4Ed software on the computer units and rendered the required training for Tech4Ed Center Managers on the operation of the center.

According to Marites Abad, Bataan Provincial Field Team Lead of DICT Central Luzon Cluster 2, this is the 19 th site of Tech4Ed in Bataan, but first time to be in partnership with DOST III for the project implementation.

The project was conceived to deliver the benefits of technology in the communities by providing access to special content.

Tech4Ed will give communities access to information, communication, technology, government services, non-formal education, skills training, telehealth, job markets, and business portals.

Some Tech4ED services include eEduSkills, eAssist and eGovServ, among others. eEduSkills delivers e-Learning on demand such as the Learning English Application for Pinoys (LEAP) that enhances the English language proficiency of the Filipinos. eAssist provides content on digital literacy, financial literacy, and ICT for career development and entrepreneurs.

Meanwhile, eGovServ connects users to essential services from key government agencies such as requesting for clearance from National Bureau of Investigation or birth certificate from Philippine Statistics Authority. Thus, Tech4Ed promotes grassroots development and opportunities for inclusive growth and poverty reduction.

AMPC will be operating the Tech4Ed Center as part of their corporate social responsibility to further extend its assistance to the community.
