169 Bataan inmates graduate in BPSU skills training

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – One hundred sixty nine male and female inmates graduated at the Bataan District Jail under the skills training program conducted by the Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) dubbed “BPSU Behind Bars Extension Program”.

Dr. Hermogenes Paguia, BPSU Director for Research, said the inmates who completed the trainings in Basic Shielded Arc Welding NC1 and NC2, Bread and Pastry Production NC2, Housekeeping NC2, and Food and Beverages NC2 recently graduated in a ceremony inside the jail.

“We have been conducting the program inside the district jail for 6 years now. In 2014 it became a regular program of the university”, said Paguia. It was learned that even jail officers benefited in the training program.

Inmate-trainees topnotchers Jeffrey Angeles (male) and Jenalyn Gomez (female) profusely thanked BPSU and BJMP for the worthy program, which they say gives hope to them.

BPSU President Dr. Greg Rodis fully supports the program. The skills training is in coordination with TESDA Bataan.
