There’s a singer at the Budget Office

“What you do for yourself dies with you. What you do for others remains.” Guided by these maxims, Mr. Eduardo Degracias Banzon or Sir Doods to many, dedicates himself to serve his fellow Bataeños. According to him, he is fated to serve the people, as he sees himself ten years from now, still in the public service, passionate in his craft.

Born on June 4, 1974, this young and enthusiastic gentleman is married to the lovely Janice Villanueva Peralta and their union is blessed with a child named Edward Sky. They presently reside in San Jose, City of Balanga.

A certified and true blue Bataeño, Mr. Banzon graduated at Balanga Elementary School in 1987 and in Tomas Del Rosario Academy in 1991 for his elementary and secondary education. He finished his degree in Computer Engineering at Adamson University in 1996, but his insatiable thirst for knowledge prodded him to enroll again at the Bataan Peninsula State University Balanga Campus and took up Business Administration major in Marketing Management. He is also looking forward to pursuing a masteral degree soon.

Before he got his present post, he was like any other employee at the Capitol, who worked his way up. He started as a Clerk I in 1998 at Board Member Eduard Florendo’s office. After three years, he was promoted to Computer Operator I at the Provincial Budget Office (PBO). The numerous challenges and obstacles he encountered didn’t stop him nor weakened his spirit and determination. It didn’t even tarnish his passion to serve. Despite all those hardships, he found himself enjoying what he is doing and after ten years, he was appointed as the Provincial Budget Officer III on September 2011.

As the Budget Officer, he assures that he and his staff accomplish their mandate such as the issuance of the annual and supplemental budgets of the 11 municipalities and the lone city of the province, and of course, the province itself. Proud and fulfilled, he shared that nowadays, “mas naging on time and updated ang submission and processing”, referring to their budgeting systems.

Despite the stress his job brings him, he is still inspired and motivated to see his staff and colleagues every day. “Kapag naiisip ko yung dapat i-process na needs ng mga kababayan ko, that inspires me!” We captured the glint in his eyes as he was saying these, a proof that he is really in love with his job.

He devotes his free time to his family. He sees to it that he spends quality time with them doing simple things that they all enjoy like watching TV and movies in sci-fi and horror genres. He is also an active member of the St. Joseph Cathedral Choir here in Balanga since 1991, his simple way of serving God.

This simple yet highly principled man reiterated that in everything he does, he always bears in mind to always do what is right. “When you do what is right, everything follows.”
