Balanga Learning Barangay Week Program, a success

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – City officials commended barangay officials and folks for the continued successful staging of Learning Barangay Week Program.

“We have successful barangay week program because of the support of the barangay officials and folks”, said Councilor Benjie Merino.

“Barangay officials and folks must continue taking advantage of the program”, he said.

The councilor was former barangay captain of Cataning, who fully supported the program and other initiatives of the city government.

Under his leadership, the barangay got many awards including Best Lupong Tagapamayapa (national) and Best Barangay in citywide level.

Earlier, Mayor Francis Garcia said the staging of the program is two-way since the city government can immediately relay its programs to the barangays and at the same time the barangay officials and folks can directly raise their concerns to the city.

Bataan 2^nd district Congressman Joet Garcia then the city mayor started the Barangay Week Program in 2007 aimed at empowering the 25 barangays in this city wherein activities in a week were assigned by the city government.
