Dairy goat breeding center to be established in Dinalupihan

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The Sangguniang Panlalawigan Committee on Agriculture has approved the establishment of a dairy goat center in Dinalupihan.

Board Member Benjie Serrano, SP chairman of the committee on agriculture, said they already approved at committee level a resolution authorizing the provincial government represented by Gov. Abet Garcia to enter into a memorandum of agreement with the Municipality of Dinalupihan for the implementation of the project “Dairy Goat Breeding Center”.

“The resolution will be adopted in our coming regular session”, the board member said.

“We aspire to make Bataan a self-sufficient province in dairy goat breeding with sustainable milk production and commercially guaranteed processing center”, he also said.

“The project will also provide alternative livelihood to farmers through sale of goat milk and byproducts”, he added.

The center will be established initially with 23 female and 2 male breeding goats of purebred dairy lines, according to Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Alberto Venturina.

He added the facility is envisioned to produce a minimum of 20 heads of goats annually for the span of 7 years.

He said potential recipient of the project will be screened by MSWDO and MAO so as to identify their need for additional income and their capacity to accommodate and take care of a goat.
