MARIVELES, Bataan – In February 2013, Jerry Borja, the information officer of DOLE Region 3 featured the success story of Juliet Abad and how she made her DOLE-given Negokart into a sustainable livelihood business.
The report says the former fiberglass factory worker could no longer take her working environment and opted to resign to pursue a street food business.
She was one of the Negokart recipients of this town way back in 2012.
In less than a year, she saw success on her business as she and her husband worked together to make it grow.
Not only did their Negokart help send her children to school and attend to their basic needs, they were also able to invest on another roving cart, a popcorn cart that did well also.
Because of the success of their roving Negokart and popcorn cart, they managed to open a food kiosk in the annual trade fair inside the Freeport Area of Bataan.
They started with a small kiosk a few years back.
A few years later, they now operate a bigger kiosk offering a variety of quick-cooking menu.
“Nagpapasalamat po kami sa DOLE dahil doon sa NegoKart po kami nagsimula at unti-unti naming napalago at nakatamasa sa pag asenso. Sana, marami pang matulungan ang DOLE sa mga taong gustong tulungan ang kanilang mga sarili,” Abad said.
