PILAR, Bataan – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Bataan Provincial Statistical Office is currently conducting the 2018 Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES 2018) which includes questions on housing characteristics in sample enumeration areas in 74 barangays around the province from July 9 to 31, 2018.
The questions on housing characteristics will be asked in order to supply the government planners and those of the private sectors the data needs relating with income and expenditure for their housing programs and policies. The answers to the housing characteristics will also check the reasonableness of the reported monthly rental of:
• the housing unit; or
• the rental value of own-occupied house; or
• the rent-free housing accommodation.
Structural acceptability of housing units i. e. construction materials of the roof, outer walls and floor, implies that these housing units are made of durable construction materials that will safeguard the occupants of the housing unit from adverse climatic conditions and provide protection and privacy.
Data on the kind of toilet facilities provide the minimum data required for the evaluation of toilet facilities in housing units available to family. A sanitary toilet facility is necessary to prevent diseases and improve the general health condition of the family members.
Chief Statistical Specialist Ledesma L. Morante of PSA Bataan encourages the public to cooperate by providing the truthful responses even in sensitive questions such as tenure of status, toilet facilities among others.
Some of the questions and observations to be collected during FIES 2018 are as follows:
Sa oras ng pagbisita,
Around 70 statistical researchers and team supervisors are enumerating around the province to gather the needed data. CSS Morante is ecstatic about the progress of the survey that no untoward incident or grave refusal was encountered since the start of enumeration on July 9, 2018. She asks for continuous support from the Local Government Units and barangay units in the field operation. The enumeration areas in first district of Bataan are:
