After the distribution of the Certificates of Completion to the 16 meat inspectors from the different municipalities and 1 city of the Province, Dr. Alberto Venturina, Provincial Veterinary delivered the closing remarks.
The graduates were all happy and grateful for having finished the said course for it will definitely be of great help to them. This is in addition to the required 1-month Basic Meat Inspection Training that every meat inspector should undergo annually in San Fernando, Pampanga.
For upgrading from Rank 1 to Rank 3, they have to take the Meat Inspection and Safety Examination conducted by the Civil Service Commission once every 10 years which is equivalent to a Subprofessional eligibility. In 2013, out of the 1,250 examinees from Luzon, only 104 passed this exam and David Damaso from Limay is the only meat inspector from Bataan who passed this exam with an average of 80%.
According to Roberto Garcia from the City of Balanga and President of the Bataan Association of Meat Inspectors, organized in March 2007 with 23 members, this training is the first ever conducted in the Province, although the NMIS occasionally conducts a 10-day refresher course, hence they are all very thankful for having finished this 3-day training. They are all hopeful that all the slaughterhouses in the province will now get an A, double A or even triple A rating from the NMIS.
