Speaking before newsmen , Garcia explained that the setting up of the proposed submarine cable is in preparation for the projected power increases from 1,360 MW to 5,860 MW due to expanding demand of household, commercial and industrial sectors.
Garcia is optimistic that the operation of the power plants is a clear signal of substantial investments to pour in the different eco-industrial zones in Mariveles, Limay, Hermosa and Morong towns which would eventually create job opportunities in manufacturing, commercial and other services .
He said the NGCP identified these power plants as the 1,200 MW GN Power Ltd.Co. ;900 MW San Miguel Consolidated Power Corporation and 2,400 MW of Atlantic Gulf and Pacific Co. which will be built between 2016 to 2020 in the two Northern Bataan industrial towns of Mariveles and Limay .
According to Ernest Vidal, NGCP corporate communication officer for Central Luzon , the feasibility study estimated to cost P 161 million will help the transmission firm to determine the best system, design and route of the submarine and overhead transmission lines .
The study is likely to be completed within a year and once it is finished the NGCP will focus on Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) clearance for the construction of the expansion project.
Vidal added that Mr. Henry Sy ,Jr. NGCP president and chief executive officer mentioned in one of his meetings with the Firm’s officials recently cited “ our existing lines in Bataan are just enough to cater the present generation capacity. It’s imperative to NGCP to complete the project to efficiently deliver the much needed power supply to Metro Manila which according to power experts will definitely triple in the next five years.
Business sectors in Bataan have welcomed the expansion of the privately-owned National Grid Corporation of the Philippines and power generation locators as another worthy happenings in the historic Peninsula which is now highly regarded as the premier industrial investment hub in Central Luzon.
