BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The National Center for TB and Leprosy Control (CENAT) of the Ministry of Cambodia conducted a study visit on the Integrated Tuberculosis Information System (ITIS) of the National TB Control Program (NTP) of the Philippines.
Said visit aims to understand the current electronic MIS solution (ITIS) implementation coverage and implementation challenges and to understand the current MIS solution being used by various national programs and their linkages/ integration with other health information system.
The DOH Central office had chosen the Province of Bataan to be visited by the international visitors for the Province of Bataan is one of the leading provinces all over the Philippines that fully implements the ITIS program.
The visit took place today at the Bataan Provincial Health Office. The Ministry of Health of Cambodia staff were accompanied by the DOH Central, Regional Office III and PHO staff headed by Dr. Rosanna M. Buccahan.
The province’s full implementation of the ITIS program was presented. Good practices of the province as well as the issues and concerns on the system used were raised. The province is highlighted as fully implementing the ITIS system with the LGU’s full support on augmenting the program’s needs.
After the presentation the visitors were accompanied to the governor’s office for a courtesy call for the local chief executives. Vice Governor Pascual welcomed the Ministry of Health and DOH staff.
The meeting highlighted the full support of the local chief executives initiatives in strengthening and implementing the public health programs and ordinances concerning health all throughout the province of Bataan.
After the courtesy call the visitors headed to Balanga City CHO and Abucay RHU to observe the practices made by the City Health Office and Rural Health Units in implementing the ITIS program.
Short presentations were done by the CHO and RHU. Questions were raised on the ITIS and NTP programs flow. Reports generated thru ITIS and Materials used for the program were also observed. The visitors commended the RHU and PHO for the best practices observed from the Provincial Health Office down to the Municipal Implementers of the ITIS program that although minor challenges such as internet connection were observed the program is still fully implemented and utilized as the DOH primary system in the National Tuberculosis Control Program.
