Bataan to adopt child welfare code

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The provincial government is bent to adopt the Bataan Child Welfare Code. In a meeting last Tuesday, the Provincial Council for the Welfare of Children (PCWC) agreed to seek the support of Board Member Rolly Tigas to sponsor the code in the Sangguniang Panlalawigan. Gov. Albert Garcia is the chairman of PCWC.

Provincial Social Welfare Development Office Head Marilyn Tigas explained that the code will include provisions on the rights of children, LGU funding for programs, and public-private support to children’s welfare. The code is seen to further improve the programs on the welfare of children in the province.

Other programs and issues on children were also tackled during the PCWC meeting. Bataan has an active Provincial Council for the Protection of Children.
