Farmer beneficiaries of equipment from DAR get training

Do you know that Bataan is consistently among the top 10 rice producing provinces in the Philippines?

ABUCAY, Bataan – The ten farmers organizations in Bataan and Zambales that received farm equipment grant from the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) already received training on how to operate the equipment and are continuously undergoing training on the business aspect, according to Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer Engr. Eric San Luis.

Twenty eight equipments that included 4-wheel tractor, hand tractor, power tiller, corn husker, and rice thresher were distributed to farmers organizations.

Members of the benefitting farmers organization were already trained on how to operate the equipment. They are also continuously being trained on the business aspect, he added. The training component is integrated in the granting of farm equipment to farmers by DAR.

San Luis said the granting of equipment is in line with the rice and vegetable farming full mechanization thrust of the agency, and is under the agency’s program Agrarian Reform Communities Connectivity and Economic Support Services (ARCCESS).

San Luis said DAR distributed farm equipments to Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations (ARBOs) in all Central Luzon.

According to DAR, the aid primarily aims to boost mechanized farming not only in the region, but also in the entire country, in order to keep pace with Asian counterparts.

DAR’s program ARCCESS hopes to address the lack of capital, excessive physical activity, and lack of financial rewards among the agriculture sector by providing farmers the kind of support services that they badly need to make the lands awarded to them more productive and the farming profession more rewarding financially.
