Bataan celebrates Children’s Month 2015

CITY of BALANGA, Bataan – It’s like Christmas in November in this city yesterday as happy children in colorful outfits together with their equally excited parents and day care workers trooped to Lou-Is Restaurant for the much–awaited annual Provincial Children’s Congress, as part of the Children’s Month celebration which is mandated as per Republic Act 10661, An Act Declaring November of Every Year as National Children’s Month.

The message of Mr. Carlo Lorenzo Datu, Assistant Regional Director III of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) zeroed in on this year’s theme, “Komunidad at pamahalaan, magkaisa, Pang-aabuso sa bata, wakasan na!” Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer (PSWDO) Marilyn Tigas likewise rallied the parents and fellow workers towards this end as she underscored the important role of children in the Filipino family as well as in nation building.

 

Children, ages 3 to 4 from the 11 municipalities of Bataan competed in Solo Singing, Copy and Color, Poem Recitation, and Calisthenics. Five of the members of the Provincial Council for the Welfare of Children namely: PINSP Jennifer Cruz of the Philippine National Police (PNP); Ms. Kristina Cundangan of the Management Information System Office (MISO); Mr. Jose Daniel Rico of Public Employment Service Office (PESO); Ms. Charmaigne Barlis of the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) and Mr. Andres Matawaran of the Department of Education (DepEd) composed the Board of Judges.

 

In Calisthenics, the municipality of Limay got the first prize with Dinalupihan and Morong in second and third places. Reine Louise Gabriel from Dinalupihan won in the Poem Recitation category followed by Frouline Hane Hechanoba of Orion and Precious Cyrille Nocum of Pilar in 2nd and 3rd places respectively. In Solo Singing category, Andrea Marc Nohay of Pilar won the first prize, Syreal Jonn Bantugan-2nd prize, and Ron Jonald Tolentino of Orani – 3rd prize. In the Copy and Color category, the winners are Samantha Nicole Mangulabaran of Pilar, Prince Ace Salvatiera of Orion and Ricka Mae Vicente of Mariveles won 1st, 2nd and 3rd places respectively.

 

First prize winners on the four categories will represent Bataan in the forthcoming Regional Children’s Congress to be held at SM Clark, Angeles City on November 17.
