Bataan District Jail personnel, inmates go green

CITY of BALANGA, Bataan – In support to the clean and green program of the national government to cushion the effect of climate change, the Bataan District Jail (BDJ), personnel and inmates participated in the landscaping and beautification of the jail facilities which started last Jan. 11, 2016.

J/Supt. Clarence E. Mayangao, jail warden, spearheaded the said project, together with the 20 personnel and eight inmates. “This is to encourage the community na tanggalin ang stigma na kapag jail ay marumi agad at mabaho”.

Aside from that, “sabi nga nila, one of the aspects para matanggal ang boredom is through seeing the beauty of the environment natalagang makakatulong sa mga inmates,” said JO3 Andrew L. Pagnas, Jail Non-Commission Officer (JNCO) for Operations.

JNCO Pagnas also disclosed that some of the inmates who partook in the said event used to be landscapers of Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar, Camella Homes and Philippine Arena.

Meanwhile, SJO3 Mayrose D. Lorenzo, added that their next program will be the hanging vegetable garden, coastal clean-up and a tree planting activity.
