BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Bataan Provincial Health Office (PHO) is projected to accomplish its dengue immunization program target of 16,175 fourth graders aged nine (9) year old in public elementary schools.
Dr. Rosanna Buccahan, provincial health officer, said PHO’s dengue immunization plan intended for fourth graders enrolled in 2015 and 2016 in Balanga City and eleven (11) municipalities is expected to be completed by the end of June, this year.
Citing the school based-immunization in Bataan which started last April 14, Dr. Buccahan said the campaign has reached more than 80 percent of its goal which is reportedly categorized as second best performer next to the Province of Aurora in the regional level assessment of the Department of Health.
She explained the closely-knit teamwork of 17 rural health units and cooperation of the local government officials led by Bataan Governor Albert Raymond Garcia in the province have resulted to exceptional success of the dengue immunization drive in Bataan.
She added the public awareness of the dengue threat to school children is a big factor in the success of the program.
The Department of Health (DOH) in Central Luzon has provided anti-dengue vaccines for the province.
