Bataan PNP deploys tourist policemen

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The Bataan PNP is deploying tourist policemen to tourist spots in the province particularly beaches.

Police Senior Insp. Jansky Andrew Jaafar, Bagac police chief, said the program of police visibility in tourist areas in the province was initiated by Bataan Police Director Rhodel Sermonia dubbed Metro Bataan Tourism-Oriented Policemen (MBTOP).

The coastal municipality of Bagac is host to plenty of commercial beaches that attract thousands of tourists and beach goers annually.

Police Inspector Jennifer Dela Cruz, Bataan police information officer, said the provincial police director wants to send strong message of being safe to tourists visiting the province. “Tourists will feel safe if they see policemen in the area”, pointed out Jaafar. He added tourist policemen are using bicycles in roaming around and wear special short pants.

Dela Cruz said tourist policemen are particularly useful in the towns of Mariveles, Morong, and Bagac where there are many beaches.

Jaafar also expressed satisfaction that APEC event had been conducted a month ago in Las Casas Filipinas De Acuzar in Bagac peacefully.

Dela Cruz urged the public to help the police in maintaining peace and order in the province. “We need the support of the public in keeping the province safe”, she said.
